1. Rainbow Beach, Queensland, Australia
Rainbow Beach is a town in Queensland, Australia. It’s located about halfway between Bundaberg and Fraser Island. The beach is popular for its white sand beaches, and there are plenty of activities you can do here.
The name “Rainbow coast” comes from the different colored sands that are found along this stretch of coastline. The rainbow-like effect happens when light reflects off tiny quartz particles that have eroded over time from rocks located in nearby mountains.
The beach is popular with families because of its safe and shallow waters. It’s also a great place to swim, snorkel, and scuba dive. Rainbow Beach’s water temperature averages around 27 °C (80 °F) all year.
The beach is also a popular surfing spot. Surfers can enjoy the waves that roll in from the Pacific Ocean. There are several other activities to do while you’re at Rainbow Beach, including diving and snorkeling with tropical fish, swimming with dolphins, and whale watching.
The beach is also a great place for stargazing. There are no lights on the sand, so you can see all of the stars in the night sky clearly. If you want to learn more about the stars and planets, there are telescopes available for rent at Rainbow coast Holiday Village.

Once you’re in Rainbow Beach, getting around is simple. In fact, most of the region is within walking distance. There are a few exceptions:
The Kokoda Track is just a short drive away; if you want to visit any of the other beaches on the west coast or experience some of Australia’s best scuba diving, you’ll have to rent a car or take an organized tour (but don’t worry—there are plenty of those!).
As for where to park and how much it costs, that really depends on your budget and how long you plan on being there. If all of these things concern you, then maybe Rainbow Beach isn’t for you after all!
There is a private car park just on the outskirts of town, but parking is free. If you plan on exploring the region, then it’s best to rent a car or take an organized tour.
Due to its location, Rainbow Beach is a great place to explore the Great Barrier Reef. There are plenty of tours available, so if this sounds like something you’d like to experience, make sure you do it!
The area also has some fantastic scuba diving spots, so if you’re looking for some adventure and want to see more than just the beaches, then consider booking one of these excursions as well.

However, most people choose to stay in town at one of the many campsites there. There is even a campground right next to where you can get your hair braided!
A few things to note about camping at Rainbow Beach:
- Most sites have electric hookups available, but some do not, so be sure to ask before booking!
- You only need an adult with you, as they don’t allow kids under 16 without adult supervision due to safety concerns (like drowning).
- The walk from your site down onto the beach might be longer than expected depending on where it’s located, so pack light and don’t forget anything important like sunscreen or towels!
There are showers available at the campground and a small store with food, drinks, ice, and other supplies. There is also a playground for kids as well!
The campground has a lot of amenities, including hot-water showers, laundry facilities, and a recreation room where you can watch television. It’s not super fancy, but it does have everything you need to make your stay comfortable.
The campground is also pet-friendly for only an extra $5 per night! You can even bring your dog down to the beach with you!
The staff at the campground are very nice and helpful as well. They have a lot of knowledge about the area, so if you have any questions, they’ll be able to help out.
